While listening to the technical discussions at XPENG presentations and press conferences, I started to see the people behind the technology. It is easy to get caught up in the specs, the battery ranges, and the autonomous driving features. But all that progress comes from human ideas and the hard work of teams. Every technology story has a human story behind it.
That realization made me start thinking about how XPENG attracts and develops its people. I started thinking about the facilities I had seen and the people I met. So I started asking questions.
What I found was a company that does not just hire engineers. It looks for people who are curious and willing to challenge themselves. The culture seems to focus on giving teams the freedom to experiment. They are not afraid to fail, as long as they learn. This approach is rare in an industry that often demands fast results.
The offices and labs I visited were not just workspaces. They were designed to encourage collaboration. You see people from different departments talking to each other, not just sending emails. That mix of ideas is where the real innovation happens.
In the end, the technology is impressive. But the people behind it are what make it possible. This is the first part of a series looking at how XPENG builds its team and its products.
